    • McGinnis Lochridge seeks an ambitious, professional, and intelligent attorney with diverse and unique background, education or experience to join our growing litigation/oil and gas law team.

      The ideal candidate will have between two and four years’ applicable experience, strong academic credentials, be highly motivated, able to work both independently and as a team player and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. This position is full time, partnership track, and will be located in Houston, Texas.

      Key Responsibilities

      -          Research and draft pleadings, discovery demands and responses, motions, briefs, correspondence, and other legal documents

      -          Handle depositions, hearings, and trials

      -          Interact directly with clients and prosecute own cases and those provided by the Firm and its partners

      -          Counsel clients on business and oil and gas law matters

      -          Prepare and present CLE presentations on litigation and oil and gas issues

      -          Work closely with other attorneys and litigation team members

    • -          Participate in firm-sponsored meetings and events
    • -          Be active in community, pro bono, and professional activities
    • Requirements

      -          Bachelor’s degree and J.D. with top 25% class ranking preferred

      -          Texas law license

      -          2 to 4 years of litigation experience

      -          Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills

      -          Strong research, writing, editing, and proofreading skills

      -          Persuasive public speaking and presentation skills

    • -          Professional entrepreneurial, team-oriented, and client-centric mind-set that embraces diversity and inclusion
    • -          Ability to work independently and responsibly
    • -          Mock trial and/or moot court experience preferred
    • -          Law Review Preferred
    • -          Judicial clerkship preferred

    Houston – Commercial Litigation Attorney (2-5 years)

A top candidate for the position has 2 to 4 years of complex litigation experience including experience in commercial litigation. Experience in financial services litigation is a plus but not required. In this role, you will assist our team in representing clients in commercial litigation, including working with financial institution clients and representing them in state, federal, and appellate actions.      Requirements of the position:

    • 2 to 4 years of prior experience in commercial litigation. Financial services litigation experience is a plus but not required.

    • Experience drafting complaints, answers, motions, and other pleadings.
    • Experience participating in the development of a strategy for written and deposition discovery.
    • Ability to distill research into meaningful and persuasive written work product and to work meticulously to ensure the quality of work product.
    • Federal court experience is a plus.

    Ideal candidates will also have:

    • A team mindset while assisting with preparation for trials and evidentiary hearings.
    • Confidence in serving as a representative of clients and our firm while meeting and conferring with opposing counsel.
    • Excellent research and analytical skills as well as clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
