Join the Houston Young Lawyers Association for an afternoon of service at Camp For All in Brenham, Texas!

Camp For All is a unique, barrier-free camp that partners with nonprofit organizations to provide life-changing experiences for children and adults with challenging illnesses, disabilities, and special needs. As a recipient of a Houston Young Lawyers Foundation (HYLF) grant, Camp For All has made a meaningful impact on countless families, and we’re excited to spend the day giving back.

During our volunteer day, Camp For All will be hosting two incredible partner organizations:

    • NF Family – serving children and families affected by neurofibromatosis.
    • Arrow Kinship – supporting families raising children through adoption, foster care, or kinship care.

Volunteers may assist with a variety of camp activities, including:

    • Serving lunch
    • Zip line
    • Slime Kitchen
    • Fishing
    • Horses & Barnyard
    • And other activities as needed throughout the day

No prior experience is necessary—just bring comfortable clothes, closed-toe shoes, and a willingness to help create an unforgettable experience for campers and their families.

Camp For All is located approximately one hour from Houston. After registration closes, an email will be sent to all volunteers with additional event details and the opportunity to coordinate carpools with other HYLA volunteers.

RSVP by August 29 to receive additional required forms (waiver, background check).  Forms must be submitted by this date to allow time for processing.

We are excited to announce that HYLA is joining forces with the local Tony Award winning Alley Theatre to offer an opportunity to improve your litigation skills. The program includes a three-hour sessions with Alley Theatre’s own professional actors that will help teach participants the skills they have learned that capture audiences – like the skills needed to capture a jury. By focusing on improving articulation, participants will get unique insight on how to better present their case in a courtroom.

$50/person for HYLA members ($40/person for government & non-profit attorney members) and $60/person for non-HYLA members.  No refunds.  Snacks and drinks will be provided. For more details on the program, visit Alley Theatre’s website at www.alleytheatre.org/articulated.

Alley Theatre Education and Community Engagement (ECE) is a national driving force for innovative arts education with a focus on pioneering arts integration, cultivating the next generation of theatre artists, and fostering community discourse. Alley Theatre is one of the largest non-profit theatre companies in the USA.

Alley Articulated is an innovative program that is tailor-made to fit the needs of business professionals. Using techniques from the actor’s toolbox, Teaching Artists offer personalized coaching sessions that help participants gain confidence and dynamism in public speaking and workplace interactions.

Taught by professional actor/teachers, this program focuses on tools used by actors that touch on:

    - Presentation skills & presenting your authentic self

    - Clarity, tone, & control

    - Executive presence

    - Nerves

    - Navigating a global workforce

    Reviews from Prior Participants:

    • “Very dynamic way of thinking about something we practice often. It provided a creative approach to growing skills we may have forgotten were actual ‘skills’. This was an amazing workshop. Thank you for your patience with our lively group. I wasn’t sure what to expect AND was extremely surprised and in awe of how well the workshop applied to our work. It’s hard to convince lawyers that we don’t have it all figured out. Thank you for your time and expertise.”

    • “It was a different focus than any other training I have had as an attorney. Loved it.”

    • “Everyone has extra noise in their head when public speaking. These tools help ground you to perform your task at an exceptional level despite the noise.”
