Litigation Staff Attorney - Fully Remote

Our client is a premier commercial litigation firm experiencing significant growth. This is a non-partnership track

opportunity.

This is a substantive litigation role that goes well beyond traditional document review. The attorney will work

closely with the firm's litigation team on complex commercial matters, with responsibilities spanning discovery,

depositions, case analysis, legal research, case development, and second-level document review.

Responsibilities

 Support attorneys throughout all phases of complex commercial litigation.

 Assist with and, as appropriate, take and defend depositions, including preparation of outlines, exhibits, and

witnesses.

 Draft and respond to discovery requests, interrogatories, requests for production, and other discovery-

related materials.

 Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, case summaries, chronologies, and other substantive work

product.

 Analyze pleadings, discovery, deposition testimony, documents, and other evidence to identify key facts,

issues, witnesses, and case themes.

 Conduct second-level document review for responsiveness, relevance, privilege, confidentiality, and

substantive issues.

 Perform quality control of first-level review and resolve issues requiring attorney judgment.

 Assist with privilege review and preparation of privilege logs.

 Identify significant evidence, factual inconsistencies, and emerging issues and communicate findings to the

litigation team.

 Assist with preparation for depositions, hearings, and other litigation proceedings.

 Manage multiple assignments and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and responsiveness.

Qualifications

 J.D. from an accredited law school.

 Active Texas Bar license in good standing required.

 Prior commercial litigation experience strongly preferred.

 Hands-on experience with discovery and deposition preparation.

 Experience taking and/or defending depositions preferred.

 Electronic document review experience, including second-level review, quality control, and/or privilege

review, preferred.

 Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and issue-spotting skills.

 Ability to quickly understand complex factual and legal issues and identify information significant to case

strategy.

 Experience with Relativity or a similar eDiscovery platform is a plus.

 Strong professional judgment, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced

litigation environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney looking for a non-partnership track.  

Salary is $120-$160K

1-2 YEAR TRANSACTIONAL ASSOCIATE

Duvera’s client serves as general counsel and bond counsel to local governmental entities, including water

districts, emergency services districts, and other special districts, with needs that range from public finance,

contract negotiation, elections and administrative proceedings. We draw upon our diverse experience in

regulatory, environmental, real estate development, and finance to meet our clients’ needs and expectations.

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Associate Attorney advises clients on legal and policy matters and supports financial and governance issues

for public-sector clients. This role requires a self-starter who works well independently and as part of a team,

and who is comfortable engaging with a wide range of stakeholders — from board members to consultants to the

general public.

Responsibilities:

 Documents Drafts & Review: Draft, reviews and revises public meeting agendas and minutes,

formal letters, orders, resolutions and other client-related documents; oversees final compilation.

 Contracts: Negotiates, drafts, reviews and revises a variety of contracts.

 Research: Researches legal precedents and relevant authority to advise clients on legal options, risks,

and compliance.

 Meetings: Prepares for and attends public meetings of governmental bodies, both in-office and

offsite.

 Client Communication: Regularly communicates with clients and

their consultants/vendors by phone, email and video conference.

 Special Projects: Supports special projects such as elections and Texas Public Information

Act (PIA) responses.

 Administrative: Enters time in our time and billing software and prepares expense reports.

 Reports to and takes direction from Members, other Attorneys, and/or Office Administrator.

Requirements:

 Juris Doctor (J.D.) Degree

 Licensed by the State Bar of Texas

 1-2 years’ experience required; familiarity with public law, municipal law, public finance or a related

practice area preferred

Skills & Abilities:

 Proficient in Windows-based software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and willingness to learn time-

and-billing and document management systems

 Ability to travel to client sites for meetings and events, including occasional evenings or after-hours

Salary is up to $175K plus bonus
